TCF cricket to begin on Mar. 15

The fourth TCF day and night cricket tournament, which is being organized by Tellicherry Cricket Forum, will begin at the Baghdadiya ground here on March 15.
This was announced by TCF President Tajmal Babu at a press conference here. The two-week tournament, which will see all the best teams of Jeddah in action, is mainly sponsored by FSN (Faisal S. Al-Naimi Est.). The event which has become a hit among the expatriates in Jeddah, will be dubbed as “FSN Champions Trophy 2012”.
Afsal Babu Adiraja, Managing Director of FSN Group, T.P. Ahmed of Naseem Jeddah Hospital and Abdul Latheef, MD of Al-Fadl Group, also attended the press conference.
In all 12 teams will vie for honors in the fourth edition of the tourney which will also be supported by Air Arabia, Aeroxpress, Fadhil Hajj Group, BUPA, ABC Cargo, Royal Costa, EAZI Pens and Naseem Jeddah Hospital.
Anwar Sadath and Abdul Faheem, executive members, detailed about the activities of TCF. Secretary Anwar Sadath and executive member Mohammed Fazeesh explained the format of the championship.
The 12 teams, including reigning champions Target Guys and runner-up Al-Jazeera Ford Royals, have been divided into four pools and top teams from respective groups will qualify for the knockout semifinals. But for the final, which will be of 12 overs each, all the preliminary matches and semifinals will be of 10 overs each.
As part of promoting new teams and the game of cricket TCF provides opportunity for 4 new teams every year. The lucky four are: Laksiri Cricket Club, Alpha CC, United Naghi and Predators Calicut.
The matches will be officiated by qualified umpires.
Media co-ordinator Abdul Khader said that TCF has also made all the arrangements to provide results and details of the matches soon after the matches on its website.
The participating teams are: Sri Lankan Malay Cricket Club, Alpha CC, Laksiri CC, Target Guys, Hyderabad Royals, Mednet, Rafa Medical Center, Dynamic CC, Unite Naghi, Al-Jazeera Ford Royals, B Cola Tuskers and Predators Calicut.
