JEDDAH — A Saudi man tried to run over a policeman in an attempt to escape from officers chasing him on the Jeddah-Taif highway. Jeddah Police said the officers saw a vehicle with no license plate and tried to stop it but its driver sped by. The police had to open fire but the man kept going. The driver dumped bags of amphetamine pills on the way before he stopped the vehicle and set it on fire. The police arrested the man, who tried to escape by foot, and seized 16,250 amphetamine pills.
