DAMMAM — DUNES International School-Al Khobar has bloomed, since its inception from April 2011. “Ever since then there has been no looking back and it has headed towards success,” said Managing Director, Dr. Nadeem Tarin. The school celebrated its Third Annual Day recently, for the Boys and the Girls section on separate days, with pomp and show. The boy's section function was graced by the well known artist and director Sanjay Khan, who was the Chief Guest, and his son the famous Indian actor Zayed Khan, who was the Guest of Honor. Sanjay Khan said: “Education is the movement from darkness to light and is the key to success in life. Gratitude is a courteous and pleasant act, and to show gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch heaven.” Zayed Khan thanked the entire school community and said: “Teachers are magicians who make a lasting impact on the lives of the students.” The program was attended by a huge number of parents, educationists and dignitaries including members of management committee, Awad Al Qahtani, Amjad Khan and Dr. Sleem Ur Rahman. The event started with the welcome speech and school report by the Principal D. Manon, who emphasized that “DUNES is committed not only towards academic excellence but comprehensive development of the students.” The girl's section function was graced by Ms. Rana Jameel Taibah, Special Educator, Ministry of Social Affairs, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The students stole the show with diverse and colorful cultural events. This was followed by the felicitation of the Principal D. Manon, Headmistress, Ms. Sumyya Arif, Ms. Shameem Saleem, KG Headmistress and the Coordinators Ms. Rachana Rastogi, Ms. Sumiya Tasneem, Yashpal Rana, Ms. Syeda Sakina, Ms. Fathima Jabeen, Ms. Ramona Silva and Ms. Sabrina Merchant. The school magazine ‘OASIS' was also launched. The Editor in chief- Ms. Sumyya Arif, Editor - Ms. Leya Mathew and Graphic Editor - Ms. Ayesha Shifa also received recognition. Students were awarded for their excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. The management committee was also felicitated for their unconditional cooperation in helping the principal and headmistress, in the overall upliftment of the standard at DUNES. “An event like this cannot happen overnight. The wheels started rolling weeks ago, and required elaborate planningand rehearsals.”said the headmistress, and concluded the successful event with a vote of thanks. - SG
