JEDDAH – Donning patriotic colors, tiny tots of International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) mesmerized the spectators on Saturday with a spectacular display of a variety of drills and floats depicting India's unique diversity and military might.
In an air of patriotic fervor and gaiety, hundreds of students enthusiastically performed to showcase diverse cultures and rich traditions of India, delivering a wonderful mood of “unity in diversity.”
Their marvelous performance was held in the august presence of dignitaries as well as their teachers and parents to mark India's 66th Republic Day celebrations that had been postponed for five days following the death of King Abdullah.
The dignitaries who were present to watch the colorful celebrations included Consul General of India BS Mubarak, Head of Chancery, Consul Education and the School Observer Mohammed Raqib Qureshi, School Managing Committee members Ahmad Najeeb Hashmi and Mohammed Mehaboob Ali, Principal Syed Masood Ahmed, in addition to officials and teachers of the school as well as students and parents.
The celebrations kicked off with melodious patriotic songs presented by boys and girls of 6-8 classes, rekindling the spirit of patriotism and sacrifices of the armed personnel in guarding the great nation.
This was followed by a scintillating display of drills in perfect harmony to the beats of drum, catapulting the nostalgic feelings about the homeland, with “Feel Pride of India.”
With their colorful attire and ornate floral displays, children turned into butterflies and enthralled the spectators, highlighting the rich heritage and diversity of the homeland.
There was a round of applause when tiny tots of classes 1 and 2 came out with their marvelous performance of drill and floats display and fan drill. Folkdances, including bamboo and Bhangra, depicting the rich tradition and culture of India were presented by boys of 3-5 classes, and it was a different experience.
They depicted rays of determination and perseverance.
Another highlight of the event was the amazing stunts displayed by boys of classes 6-8. Their visual treat was an outcome of intensive training, dedication and remarkable caliber.
This spectacular show of martial arts gave an impression to their school mates and parents that ensuring sound physical and mental health is a precious wealth to be acquired by them all.
The children's parade showcasing floats of three wings of the armed forces and display of tank and missile enabled the spectators to have glimpses into India's military might and its highly advanced and sophisticated weaponry.
The school principal and other officials thanked all the students and parents as well as the academic staff for their dedication and cooperation to make the celebrations a great event.
