Enthralling annual day celebrations at DPS, Riyadh The Delhi Public School, Riyadh's annual day celebration was a beautiful and memorable one. Kabir Bedi, a versatile Indian actor was the chief guest, and he was warmly welcomed by Chairman Nadeem Tarin and Principal Mairaj Mohammad Khan. The event was attended by a large number of Saudi and Indian officials, including Ibrahim Al-Qayid, chairman of Daratassalam International, and Manohar Ram, deputy chief of the Indian mission. Students enthralled the audience with their lovely, colorful and spell-binding performances. The acts were well-prepared and coordinated perfectly with each other. A lot of hard work went into its preparations, but it paid off well with appraisals from dignitaries. “The annual day celebration at DPS Riyadh was a huge success because of the presence of Bedi,” said Tarin. Awards and certificates for exceptional achievements in academics and sports were given to students. It was'nt only the students who got their work recognized, but teachers too were honored for their outstanding services to the school - Armin Kotwal, Shyma Takur, Abdul Hameed, Maria Dcruz, Sameena Waqaar, Chandramohan Bisth, Deepa Arora, Rejula K.H, Vijaylakshmi, Ayesha Faseela, Maxi Fernandaz and Amita Rawat. Bedi also launched the school magazine, “Desert Breeze.” This was Bedi's first visit to the Kingdom and he clearly expressed his happiness by thanking the authorities for inviting him, and duly acknowledged the teachers for putting up such a splendid show. He also said that knowledge and hard work provide the fuel for an ordinary person to achieve extraordinary things. Tiny tots put up a splendid ‘puppet show'By Rasha Abdul Razak Event Manager Taqwa International School, Riyadh Students of Taqwa International School displayed a panoramic KG Puppet Show on Feb. 12. The event was graced by the TIS Principal Dr. S.M Anvar Batcha who also welcomed the gathering and encouraged the students to give their best. Creative performances by the tiny tots captivated the audience. The young ones performed beautifully on traditional nursery rhymes such as, twinkle, twinkle little stars, Mary and her lovable little lamb, quack-quack ducks, and happy little children out-in-the-garden (rhyme). They also showed brilliant acting skills by performing vibrantly in the drama “The Hungry Caterpillar” and “Rainbow Story,”. The latter depicted unity in diversity by focusing on how seven colors were in vain without each other, but when they joined hands they became one radiant ‘rainbow'. An Islamic play threw light upon the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him); simple acts that could reap great rewards. On a different platform, to test and hone their oratorical prowess, the students of grades one to nine participated in an electrifying Debate and Elocution Competition. The carefully chosen topics covered the latest global concerns that play a role in the wheel of the younger generation's lifestyle.
