JEDDAH — Preparations for the fourth Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX), scheduled to be held at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events on May 18-21, 2015, are well underway with more than 100 Omani companies already confirming participation. This was announced at a press conference held here in Jeddah by Ayman Abdullah Hamed Al Hasani, Vice-Chairman, Head of Industry and Mining Committee, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the attendance of JCCI Secretary General Adnan Mandourah, H.E. Jomah Bin Mubarak Al Rashidi, Oman Consul General in Jeddah and Hadi Malaeb, Vice President at Al Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE). Organized by Al Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE) and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industrial (JCCI), OPEX's fourth edition is expected to display a diverse range of Omani goods from food and beverages, textiles and garments, minerals and metals, equipment and machinery, and furniture, as well as paper, plastic, nonmetallic, petrochemical, chemical, fabricated metal and recycled products. Addressing conference, Al Hasani said after their successful annual expos in Riyadh, Qatar and Dubai, the organizing committee set their sight this time on Jeddah. He also announced that Saudi Arabia and Oman enjoy a great trade relationship in the last few years and their bilateral relationship has reached SR 6 billion. He said “Jeddah is the region's main business hub and a gateway to international trade. This represents a perfect opportunity to expand into a very strong global market. OPEX aims to develop partnerships between local companies and importers in Jeddah for Omani products including building materials, leather, food, pharmaceutical and polypropylene products, as well as for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to establish new trade agreements with companies in the Jeddah.” Mandourah pointed out that Jeddah is an ideal destination for trade and finance as well as a global capital for major exhibitions and conferences, he said “We are glad to host OPEX 2015 in Jeddah and we hope to allow business networking and the opportunity to build stronger trade ties with Omani traders.” ACE's Vice President, Mallab said “we are very pleased to be the main organizers of OPEX 2015 here in Jeddah because this initiative will enhance commercial cooperation between the two countries. We are expecting great success for OPEX 2014 in its third edition in Jeddah, which has become the main destination for important local and international conferences and exhibitions,” he said. Omani Consul General Al Rashidi said the two countries enjoy close high-level exchanges and bilateral relations in all fields. “OPEX 2015 will be opening new gateways for Jeddah investors to connect with Omani product manufacturers from various industries,” he added.
