RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah on Monday opened the four-day Omani Product Expo 2012, the premier trade fair highlighting Omani products to the Saudi market. Omani Product Expo 2012 runs until Dec. 27 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. Organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, and executed by Riyadh Exhibitions Company, Omani Product Expo features the largest gathering of Omani products under one roof in Saudi Arabia, opening new gateways for regional and international investors to connect with Omani product manufacturers from various industries. Trade visitors will be able to see the latest offerings from Oman's industrial sector, establish strategic relations with Omani product manufacturers, access the Sultanate's largest industrial sector and benefit from diverse exhibition programs. The event is also poised to highlight the interest of Omani companies in the Saudi market. The first exhibition of Omani products at the GCC level comes as part of the national campaign for the promotion and marketing of the Omani products, to find new markets for the country's products, which are characterized by their quality and high specifications, to familiarize with the Saudi market and the most important areas of cooperation with that market. Some 56 Omani companies representing various industrial sectors showcase top-quality Omani products at the exhibition, such edible oils, food and beverages, dairy products, production and processing of dates and fruits, leather products, textile fabrics, fire alarm and fire-fighting equipment, marble, glass, perfumes and cosmetics, electrical cables, ceramic, steel, aluminum, plastic, pipes, water tanks, water treatment systems and fertilizers, low voltage and medium voltage cables and UPVC windows and doors. There will be bilateral meetings between businessmen and representatives of the Omani companies participating in the exhibition with their Saudi counterparts in order to strengthen trade relations and to have outlets for the distribution of their products in the Saudi market. — SG
