Dr. Sayed Ziauddin JEDDAH — My Care Hala (MCH) remained unbeaten as it clinched the third straight WPCA Premier crown beating Dopco Stars by six wickets in the final here recently. Elsewhere in the WPCA, Crown Blue defeated New Young stars and ALJ Toyota downed Brasa De Brazil to set up Morning Summer tournament final. Dopco Stars began well with Nadeem making 51 and Afaq Ahmed 40 as the two added 94 off 60 balls. Nasir Khan bamboozled them with a hat trick in his 3rd over. Faheem Afrad scalped 2-25 to reduce Dopco to 137-8 from 135-3. Skipper Shahbaz Rasheed added a useful 46 to take the total to 172. Nasir Khan finished with figures of 4-35, Tariq Mahmood 2-22 and Mohammad Amjed 2-21. MCH started the chase with Qamar Abbas scoring 27 with 3 sixes and a four, and Moazzam Shoukat 29. Tariq Mahmood added 53 and Babar 37 to take the team to 176 for 6 with 5 balls to spare. Waheed, Shahbaz, Ajmal, Khurram and Afzal claimed a wicket each. Arshad Chohan and Imran officiated the match. An awards ceremony took place after the match where Afaq of Dopco Stars was awarded with the Best Batsman honor, Akber of Pepsi Deccan Knights was named Best Bowler, Tahir of AOT Man of the Tournament and Babar of MCH Best wicketkeeper. Special awards were given to Babar of IDB and Nasir Khan of MCH for their hat tricks. A plaque was given to Mounir Sinno of Al-Kabbani for his contribution to the game of cricket. Earlier in the semifinals MCH thrashed AOT by 18 runs, while Dopco Stars thumped Crown Steel by 72 runs. Morning semifinals In the first semifinal Crown Blue trounced New Young Stars by 23 runs. Crown Blue was tottering at 103 for 6 when Saleem Mehar compiled 44 to get to a defendable 178. Anwaar Chand scored 25 and Saqib Butt 31. Adnan claimed 3-28 and Shabab 2-33. New Young Stars were cruising at 140-5 with Bilal at 51 and Shafi 20 when Anwaar Chand struck and claimed 3-27 and Junaid 2-11 to restrict the opponent to 155. Zahoor had 2-30. In the other semifinal Brasa De Brazil posted 165-5 against ALJ Toyota as Farid Afridi hit 28, Bilal 38 and Zaman 36. Imran Rana bagged 2-26. ALJ Toyota achieved 166 for 7 as Tanveer Zamane scored 30, Zahid 36 and Farhan 24. Sajid claimed 3-24 and Bilal 2-36.
