JEDDAH — Centuries by Tasleem and Anwaar Chand along with a hat trick by Arsalan were the highlights of the quarterfinals of the WPCA Morning Division here recently. Crown Blue is now set to face New Young Stars, while ALJ Toyota will play Brasa De Brazil in the semifinals. In the first quarterfinal Crown Blue defeated QRCC by 104 runs. Crown Blue plundered 248 for 1 with Tasleem smashing an unbeaten 101 off 50 balls (15 fours) and Anwaar Chand compiling 124 off 60 balls (18 boundaries and 2 sixes) as they stitched together a record 247 off 119 balls for the first wicket. QRCC, in response, could only muster 144. Zahid and Sadiq hit identical 29. Zahid was given out obstructing the field, a first in the WPCA. Zahoor claimed 2-31, Saqib Butt 2-42 and Anwaar Chand 2-10. New Young Stars trounced Myaco by 8 wickets. Myaco put on 109 with only Tahir Ayyub making 51 as Arsalan grabbed 6 for 27 that included a hat trick, while Shabbir had 2-27. New Young Stars reached 113 for 2 and secured a place in the semis. Arsalan was 41 not out, while Asif hit 30 and Raja Babu 26. My Care Hala Green lost to Brasa De Brazil by 8 wickets. MCH Green posted 183 for 6 as Salman slammed 91 with 4 sixes and 11 fours. Shahid took 3-30, Sajid 2-28 and Tariq Butt 1-35. Brasa De Brazil, in reply, got to the target of 184 for 2 as Farid Afridi hammered an unbeaten 75 with 7 fours, while Bilal compiled 33 and Zaman smashed 51. In the last match, ALJ Toyota defeated Al-Mazroi-XI by 3 runs. ALJ Toyota piled up 160 for 4 through Basheer (55), Farhan (55 not out), Faruk (37), Sufiyan Lehri (36) and Abdullah (24 not out). Arif scalped 2-27. The previous week, Crown Blue, Brasa De Brazil, New Young Stars, Myaco, ALJ Toyota, Al-Mazroi, MCH Green and QRCC qualified for the quarterfinals. Crown Blue downed My Care Hala Green by 6 wickets; Sadafco humbled Stallions by 3 wickets; Johnson Control edged Aquafina Rapid Tech by 8 runs; ALJ Toyota crushed Jeddah Royals by 9 wickets; Jeddah Challengers humbled Hanifa Tigers by 8 wickets; and New Young Stars trounced Al-Mazroi by 6 wickets.
