Batsmen, bowlers share honors in WPCA Morning

JEDDAH — Eight matches took place on the opening day of the new season for WPCA Morning tournament here recently.
Myaco, ALJ Toyota, Jeddah Royals, SFCC, Al-Mazroi-XI and New Young Stars scored wins while the match between Hala White and Hanifa Tigers ended in a tie.
Myaco reached the target of 125 to hand Kabbani an 8-wicket thrashing. Asghar top scored with 44 in 20 balls, Naeem added 31, while Adnan remained unbeaten on 21.
Another match saw Hala Academy White take the strike first and score 190-3 against Hanifa Tigers. Jahanzeb remained unbeaten on 72 off 45 balls (8 fours and a six). Abdulmoeed added 37, while Osama faced 27 balls for his unbeaten 54 (8 fours). The Tigers tied the match as Abbas slammed 57 (2 sixes and 11 fours) and Imran hit 28. Furqan took 2-27, Osama 2-42 and Faqar 2-43.
ALJ Toyota opted to bat first and plundered 172-8 against Jeddah Challengers. Tanveer Zamane hit 32, Imran 43, Zahid 28 and Aftab remained unbeaten on 20. Faraz took 2-22 and Abubakar 2-32. Jeddah Challengers were restricted to 100-8 as they lost by 72 runs. Sadiq remained unbeaten on 24 and Shafahat hit 18. Tariq took 2-17 and Aftab 2-18.
M.Q. Group, put into bat by Jeddah Royals, managed 148-9. Mohsin alone scored 74 (10 fours and 2 sixes). Imtiyaz took 3-26, Ibrahim 2-11 and Iftekhar 2-26. Jeddah Royals, in reply, achieved the target of 152 with 5 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare. Iftekhar (45) and Bovan (36) added 52 runs. Ibrahim later hit 31 not out to take the team to victory. Shakeel grabbed 3-27.
In another match Rapidtech defeated Stallions by 29 runs.
Another outing saw SFCC, put into bat by Crown Blue, score 233-5. Abdul Aziz hammered 82 (5 sixes and 5 fours), while Tariq added 60 (2 sixes and 5 fours) as the two added 155 after SFCC was reduced to 34-2. Abdul Basit later added 35 and Ijaz 22. Crown Blue responded with Anwaar scoring 72 (5 sixes and 3 fours), while his partner Saqib compiled 70 (7 fours and 2 sixes) as the two put on 134 off 66 balls. The middle order crumbled as the team was restricted to 208-8 to lose by 25 runs. Tariq excelled with the ball as well to take 4-23, while Ahmed grabbed 2-25.
Al-Mazroi-XI, batting first, made 171. Otex in response could score only 134-7 to lose by 37 runs. Irfan made 22. Farhan took 2-7, Subhan 2-18 and Mubeen 2-31.
In another tie, Attieh Steel, batting first, scored 163-6 with Tahir making 41, Waseem K.P. 42 and Allah Rakha 21. Arsalan took 3-17.
New Young Stars were comfortably home with 164-4 in 103 balls as Asif slammed 69 in 42 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes as Shabbir was unbeaten on 38. Naeem took 2-32.
