HOFOUF — A house fire claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy and injured his brother, uncle and the son of a neighbor, according to Eastern Province Civil Defense spokesman Col. Ali Saeed Al-Qahtani. Preliminary investigations showed the boy died from smoke inhalation while the others sustained burns, some of them life-threatening. The firefighters rushed to the scene right after the fire had been reported. Red Crescent paramedics transported the injured to the nearby hospital. One of the rooms where the fire broke out was destroyed while the rest of the house was damaged by the smoke.
