In a heroic rescue, Civil Defense men stormed into a raging fire in a house in Al-Mu'allimeen District in Al-Hofouf to rescue a family of four from burning to death. A firefighting and rescue team from Al-Sulaimania Station rushed to the scene on receiving a report of the fire which broke out in the 40 square meter main hall of the family's home. The cause of the inferno has not as yet been determined and investigations are still going on. Lt. Col. Mansour Bin Muhammad Al-Dowsari, Spokesperson of the Eastern Province Civil Defense, said that the Civil Defense team stormed into the fire and extinguished it before it could spread to other rooms and neighboring buildings. They also rescued the family within 15 minutes of receiving the report at 7.09 PM on Thursday. He pointed out that the fire resulted in the injury of four people including a 34-year-old man, his brother, 25, a boy, 14, and a girl, 10. He said all the family members were evacuated and the injured were taken to King Fahd Hospital in critical condition after suffering from smoke inhalation. Four other citizens who were the family's neighbors suffered slight injuries during their attempts to enter the house. The neighbors have been released from the hospital after treatment except for a 23-year-old man but who is still under medical observation.
