DHAHRAN AL-JANOUB — Border Guards intercepted eight people who were trying to sneak into the country near the border village of Al-Majazah. The infiltrators fired at the patrol team and the officers returned fire. After the brief exchange, the infiltrators fled across the border, leaving behind 37 rifles, 5,380 rounds of live ammunition, 29 kilograms of hashish and 300 kilograms of the narcotic leaf qat. Another Border Guard unit came under fire during routine patrol duty in Al-Harth sector, Jazan. Spokesman for the Border Guard in Jazan Brig. Abdullah Bin Mahfouz said the patrol unit returned fire and the gunmen fled the scene. One officer was injured and taken to Al-Harth Hospital.
