Saudi Gazette report JAZAN – Emir of Jazan Prince Muhammad Bin Nasser will launch on Sunday three ferries that will transport construction material, fodder and fuel to the Farasan Island, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Minister of Transport Jubarah Al-Suraisiry will attend the launching ceremony. The three ferries have been secured in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. In a statement to SPA, Undersecretary at the Jazan governorate Abdullah Al-Suwayid said the new ferries would contribute greatly to the development of Farasan as better transportation facilities are expected to expedite ongoing projects and attract new investment to the island. They will also contribute to reducing prices of building materials and fuel on the island. Al-Suwayid said increased frequency of shuttle trips would boost the volume of daily movement of cargo between Jazan Port and Farasan. The director general of roads and transport in the Jazan region, Nasser Ali Al-Hazmi, said the three ferries, which are anchored at Jazan Port, are each 79 meters long and have the capacity for 25 large and medium trucks carrying livestock, agricultural products and fuel.
