THE fast growing retail chain in Saudi Arabia LuLu hypermarket launches today (Mach 5) its seven-day Agro Food Fest in association with Ministry of Agriculture in its three outlets in Riyadh and Al- Khobar. The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be today at 5:00 p.m. in Riyadh & Al-Khobar outlets. As part of the festival, LuLu will exhibit wide range of indigenously grown fruits & vegetable and offer them to the customers in a bargain price. As part of the event, Agricultural Ministry will showcase their impressive growth and development in Saudi soil in an exhibition of photos. During this event LuLu in Al-Khobar will be showing a documentary developed by Ministry of Agriculture demonstrating the extensive transformation in agriculture in the local soil. Local farmers and cultivators are also given a platform in LuLu Hypermarkets to introduce and offer their produce in line with the Agro Fest. By this Festival, LuLu intends to gather and offer more than 100 varieties of genuine locally grown agro produce. These are sourced from Hail, Al Kharj, Al Hassa, Jizan & Qatif where the agri-produce are in full pace. “The agro produce sourced from Saudi soil have reached 60,000 tons the last year. It includes 2,000 tons of onion & potato from the country,” Rizvin Razaq, the buying manager said. “The whole purpose of this event to throw some lights to the massive cultivation undertaken in the Saudi soil, which is not generally talked about and the weight the Ministry throws behind in nurturing it,” he added. – SG
