This is in response to the article “An impending danger” that appeared in Saudi Gazette on Feb. 17. As an environmental manager I cannot better have expressed this. There are two main problems in Saudi Arabia, the awareness of the government and the awareness of the man-in-the-street. Using alternative energy is useless if the unnecessary consumption of energy is not stopped and reversed. As people don t change their habits in waste disposal at the streets. This all requires a National Plan of Education and Awareness, supported by the government with regulations and adequate tools. I agree there should be a future vision that requires drawing up of a long strategy and pursuit of alternatives. In my view solar energy needs to be developed here in Saudi Arabia.
