JEDDAH — Indonesian Consulate clinched a double in a badminton tournament, which was organized by the Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC) at the International Indian School auditorium here recently. ACGC consists of 13 consulates from the Asian and South East Asian countries in Jeddah. Out of the 13 consulates, nine — Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand — participated in the Tournament. Consuls General from Brunei, China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Philippines were seen in action. Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, ACGC Coordinator and Consul General of India, welcomed all the Consuls General and their team members during the opening ceremony. Thereafter, the draw was held for the competition. The championship was conducted in two categories — men's doubles (knockout) and mixed doubles (knockout). The men's doubles title was won by I. Ik Azhar and Azizuddin from the Indonesian Consulate. The first runners-up honors went to Aftab Ahmed Khokher, Consul General, and Abdul Wahab Soomru, Consul (Com.) from the Pakistan Consulate. Suffian Arwae and Zhang Jin Qi from the Thailand Consulate claimed the second runners-up prize. Ahmed Mustoleh and I. Is Moi Noto from the Indonesian Consulate emerged champions in the mixed doubles. The first runners-up were Hei Yan Hai and Ma Yue Lan from the Chinese Consulate. Khalid Abdul Razak, Consul General, and Aniza Khalid from the Malaysian Consulate clinched the second runners-up plum. The event concluded with an awarding tceremony, followed by a lunch sponsored by Mehfil Restaurant, which was arranged by the Consulate General of India. — SG
