Aisyah Sara JEDDAH — Aniza Khalid emerged the overall women champion of the Asian Consul General Club (ACGC) Bowling Tournament, which was held at Jeddah Lanes recently. Aniza, wife of Mohammed Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak, Consul General of Malaysia, won the title in the Spouse of CG Category. She recorded the highest pins per game and also was a member of the Malaysia Team which stood runner-up in the team event. Consul General Khalid also captured the runner-up title in the Consul General Category. The bowling tournament, which was organized by the Consulate General of Malaysia, saw 10 out of 13 ACGC member countries — Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Singapore — competing for honors. The mix teams were consisted of 4 men and 2 women. There was also a special category event for Consul Generals and Spouses. After superb power bowling for more than three hours, Brunei Consulate clinched the team event honors by accumulating 2,555 pins against Malaysia, which tallied 2,547. The Philippines took the third spot. Brunei also won the Best CG Category, Men Highest Pins per game and Women Individual. Malaysia was runner-up in Men Individual and Indonesia runner-up in Women Individual Category. During the award ceremony, the Consul General of Malaysia thanked all his ACGC colleagues and families who took part in the championship with true sportsmanship and made the event a thrilling and memorable one.
