With regard to the article “Reduce foreigners salaries” (Nov. 2), a simple solution is to have Saudis do all the work. Let's have Saudi street workers, Saudi barbers, Saudi butchers and Saudi plumbers. All problems would be solved if only the government would explain to Saudis that even Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did most of his work with his own hands. Mohammad Atif, Online response II. What you should strive for is equality in salary. I certainly do not believe that salaries are at the level stated in the article. For most British employees, the attraction is the tax free element, not the salary itself. This level of salary is also tempered by the cultural aspects for which people expect to be compensated, e.g. religious freedom and social outlets. Simon, Online response III. In that case the only expats you would get here are those from countries that have your GDP per capita, or less. What is the average income of a Saudi? I think it is a lot less than say, Germany. I could be wrong. A country either has to have its own knowledge base, or hire it. Big strides have taken place in Saudi Arabia, but until the Kingdom has a full and willing base, it has to hire. This indicates that in the near future we are going to face a skill shortage and a reduction in workforce quality which may affect upcoming projects. Indians are now able to find jobs at the same or higher pay as they get in Saudi Arabia due to an increase in developmental projects in India. This will result in them staying home and enjoying a better life. Anonymous, Online response
