Munch Bakery and Old Students upset rivals in JCL

JEDDAH — Munch Bakery and Old Students scored contrasting wins over their respective rivals in the 2nd week of the JCA-sponsored Afternoon League here recently. While Munch Bakery had to struggle to beat ICAD by 20 runs, Old Students had a relatively easy match, overcoming Jamco comfortably by 7 wickets.
Munch Bakery, batting first, scored 160-7. Rana Shahzad played a valuable knock of 49 off 21 balls, including a four and 5 sixes — 4 of them in one over of Shakeel. Zainul Salekeen supported him with a patient 28. ICAD bowled 26 wides which cost it the match. Imran bowled very well getting rid of the top 4 for 22 runs, while Shakeel, Hassan and Nishat took one wicket each. In reply, ICAD could manage only 140-9. Irfan top-scored with 48 off 36 balls, while Hassan contributed 26 and Imran 15. Shahid claimed 3-27, while Rana Shahzad and Khalid claimed 2 wickets each.
Jamco, batting first, was skittled for a paltry 90 in only 11 overs as Nazim and Abdul Rahman Khalil did most of the damage claiming 3 wickets each, conceding 21 and 14 runs, respectively. Umar chipped in with 2-21.
Yusuf hit 42 runs off 25 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours, while Atif scored 15. The rest of the batsmen failed to reach double figures as Jamco collapsed to 90 all out. Old Students scored the required runs in 8 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Waqas hit an unbeaten 38 off 24 balls with 7 boundaries, while Nazim chipped in with 15 (2 fours and a six) and Sajjad remained unbeaten on 14. Mukarram took 2-9, while Abul Majid claimed 1-22.
