JEDDAH – The Civil Defense Directorate has mobilized all its personnel and resources to meet any emergency situation following a warning from the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) that there would be climatic fluctuations in various regions of the Kingdom over the coming few days. PME urged the authorities concerned to take all precautionary measures to prevent any casualties. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has directed education departments across the Kingdom to take precautionary measures, including suspension of classes in case of any severe climatic fluctuations in their regions. The Presidency's warning, issued on Tuesday, was followed by climatic changes represented by rainfall and strong winds in some regions. Col. Saeed Al-Sarhan, spokesman of Civil Defense in Makkah region, said Civil Defense teams have swung into action to meet any contingency. “There are 16 support centers in Jeddah region that will instantly pass information to the operation rooms and disaster management center at the Makkah governorate in case of any incident,” he said. It has instructed the emergency committee at each school to prepare a report about their contingency plans to deal with emergency situations. Abdul Majeed Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of education department in Jeddah, said that necessary directives have been issued to suspend classes in the event of rainfall.
