The Civil Defense has been put on alert after the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) said it expects rainfall in the western part of the Kingdom including Makkah, Madina and East Jeddah. Brig. Abdullah Al-Jeddawi, Director of the Civil Defense in Jeddah, said that his organization is taking necessary precautionary measures with other government bodies. The PME forecast will not result in the closure of school or postponement of examinations. However, if reports confirm rainfall, the education authorities will be notified to call off the exams, Al-Jeddawi explained. Civil Defense teams have been dispatched to vital locations just in case anything happens and 32 Civil Defense centers have been asked to be on alert for any emergency situation, Al-Jeddawi said. The Civil Defense has rented additional machinery and equipment and has 30 alert sirens available as well as water pumping machines, Al-Jeddawi added. The Red Crescent Society has reiterated its preparedness to provide the best medical services to anyone who needs it. All emergency centers have doctors, technicians and vehicles, it said in a statement. __
