Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The International Indian School Jeddah Alumni Association (IISJAA) organized a seminar on “how Qur'an guides the modern science” at the auditorium of International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) boys' section last week. Waseem Razvi, an engineer by profession and president and founder of Islamic Research and Education Academy (IREA) - Australiaan, was the keynote speaker at the event. Razvi, who holds a Master in Information Systems (MIT) degree, left his professional career to devote his time for dawah services. The almunus of IISJ has delivered over 200 lectures on various topics of Islam, including holding talks on comparative studies between religions and giving dawah to non-Muslims. “I am not trying to say Qur'an is a book of science rather Qur'an is a book of signs, which deals with various subjects of life and whatever mentioned stands to true in every age,” said Razvi.
In his speech, Razvi explained modern science theories like the big bang theory, shape of the earth, and creation of human being among others, which have already been mentioned in the Qur'an centuries earlier, in the light of religion. He also quoted many famous non-Muslim scientists on how the Qur'an had exposed them to facts. “Today I am very honored to give a presentation to my young brothers and sisters here. I want the coming generation to understand the importance of education in collaboration with what our religion teaches,” he said. After the speech, students cleared their doubts in a question and answer session. The seminar was hosted by Head Boy of IISJ Hurairah Chorghay, who also delivered a presentation on the harmful effects of smoking, tobacco and drugs. The seminar commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an by Mirza Abdullah Baig followed by a welcome address by Asim Zeeshan, president of IISJAA, who also shed light on the speaker. The vote of thanks was made by Literary Secretary of IISJ Adel Jeelani. Other alumni association members present at the seminar were Mir Asgar Ali, Atif Khan, Abdul Rehman Baig, Sabah Noureen, including headmasters of higher grades block and teachers.
