JEDDAH — International Indian School Jeddah Alumni Association (IISJAA) recently formed its new executive committee. “It was indeed a historic moment as the organization got its first democratically chosen body,” said C.P Joy, IISJAA coordinator.
Out of the 12 potential candidates, registered members of IISJAA chose nine members through a systematic process held at premises of IISJ- boys' section.
The new committee, which will serve for a term of two years, will have Asim Zeeshan as president of the committee, who graduated from school in 1995. “We will work for strengthening the ties of goodwill and communication between the school, its alumni and current students by maintaining programs to serve the needs of everyone,” said Asim, following the induction of the new committee.
Position holders in the committee include Syed Aziz, who will serve as Vice President, Fareed Sardar Khan as General Secretary, Fathima Afsar as Joint Secretary and Abdul Rahman M. Baig as Treasurer. Other executive members include Sabah Noureen, Tanweer Siddiqui, Atif Zubair Khan and Syed Fawaz Rizvi .
“It is imperative to create a culture of philanthropy among the alumni body so that they can contribute their time, talent and financial resources for the betterment of the school,” said Fareed Khan while addressing the committee members.
Jeddah is a home to some 600 IISJ alumni members and IISJAA aims to serve the alma mater through social, cultural and academic oriented activities.
The official alumni body of the Indian School which got launched by the then Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad and member Higher Board Dr. Karimuddin earlier functioned under the banner of EXISS founded by Dr. Mirza Riyaz Baig, Mir Asgar Ali, Mir Murtuza Ali and Khalid Abdul Wahab.
Currently the group has over 1,000 registered members and the newly elected IISJAA Executive Committee members request all the alumnus of the school to register themselves on school website www.iisjed.com so that a strong database of its members can be maintained.
The committee will reach out to its registered members for a brainstorming session soon for finalizing the organization's activity calendar.
