Are housewives worthless?

I am writing with regard to the article “Saudi woman breaks male monopoly in construction” (Sep. 26).
Why is it that time and again it is projected that women who do household work are worthless? Is raising children a worthless job? Is the success or worthiness of a woman only a matter of how much money she can earn?
