JEDDAH — The police here Monday detained a Pakistani resident for deceiving a fellow compatriot by telling him that he has connections in the right places and that he would correct his residency status for SR10,000. The offender also told the victim that he was leaving the country shortly and to quickly complete the procedures. Once he got the money he disappeared with it and the victim's iqama and passport. The victim notified the police who began their search and located the offender, whose descriptions matched the one given by the victim. Jeddah Police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said the offender has scammed three expatriates by using the same ploy.
