JEDDAH — Police detained a 12-year-old boy of African origin on suspicions of committing a number of thefts. Jeddah north police station were notified of a number of thefts that were committed in the same manner. The perpetrator would enter houses by breaking ground floor windows, without leaving any traces. As none of the victims could provide any description of the suspect, security teams spread out in the neighborhood that witnessed a number of thefts. They monitored a child who was spotted inspecting houses, and detained him for questioning. He immediately denied any links to the thefts, which confirmed the suspicions against him. His fingerprints matched those lifted from one of the houses, and the child was referred to the juvenile center. Spokesman for Jeddah police First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said investigations are ongoing to determine other thefts the child might have committed.
