JEDDAH – The finger printing process at Jeddah Tarheel (deportation center) in Ramadan will start after Traweeh prayer and end at Suhoor (i.e. from 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.). A press statement from the Indian consulate urged its nationals requiring fingerprinting to be present at Tarheel well before the said time. Those with tokens for June 25 and July 2 who could not be fingerprinted due to the paucity of time have been asked to visit Tarheel on July 9 (Tuesday) without taking fresh tokens from the Indian consulate, said the statement. Those Indians who have got final exit stamp but are having problems in getting seats on the plane have been asked to contact consul (community welfare). The statement called on those Indian nationals who are not covered under the amnesty to go back to their sponsors and settle their issues. The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has launched a special website for job seekers. Encouraged by the huge response from both the job seekers and the companies during the last fairs, the India consulate is planning to hold another job fair. The sudden announcement of a three-month amnesty in April led to massive queues outside government offices and the consulates of labor exporting countries as offices were flooded with hundreds of thousands of requests. Many reported queuing for days on end in temperatures of higher than 40 degrees Celsius. The King extended the amnesty for illegal foreign workers by four months, bringing relief for thousands of immigrant workers, who are yet to regularize their status. – SG
