It is very correct what Imbesat Syed said in his article “No need for Bollywood films in Ramadan” (July 5). One should refrain from all such useless matters and should concentrate instead on the worshiping of Allah. On TV one can watch news, sports, scientific programs, documentary films and informative programs which do not go against the spirit of Islam. Bollywood films in Ramadan or on other days of the year are not permissible as music, scantily dressed women, and false stories go against the spirit of Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has commanded that we should avoid such things. Anees Lokhande, Online response II. “Movies are aired throughout the year but their promotion, especially in the blessed and holy month of Ramadan, is a slap in the face of the Muslim community.” Very well said. If possible the Kingdom should stop this nonsense and behavior of misusing the month of Ramadan. Movies can be broadcast but not in the holy month. Meerashah, Online response III. I completely agree that there should not be any special screenings of any movies, whether it is Bollywood movies or other genres, nor should there be any TV soap operas during the holy month of Ramadan. These channels should be blocked if they broadcast against the true spirit of Islam in the most holy month of Islam. Ramadan Kareem! Dr. Alim, Online response IV. It is very true that TV channels by announcing all of these programs during Ramadan try to stop Muslims from praying during the holy month. All Muslims around the world should protect themselves from such things and dedicate themselves to fasting, praying, and reading the Holy Qur'an during the holy month of Ramadan.
