MUSCAT — An Oman Air plane made an emergency landing in India on Saturday because of a bomb scare during the flight, a New Delhi airport official said. The plane landed without incident at the Mumbai airport, and the passengers disembarked safely. The official said the flight WY 823 was headed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Muscat. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media. The pilot requested an emergency landing, and the aircraft was diverted to an isolated bay at the airport upon landing. Oman Air is now making arrangements to get passengers to Kuala Lumpur as soon as possible, said an Oman Air press statement. "Passenger safety is Oman Air's over-riding concern and any perceived threat to our customers' well-being is taken extremely seriously. We would like to thank customers affected by this incident for their patience and we hope that there will be as little disruption as possible to their travel plans. We would also like to thank the aircraft's Captain and crew for their professionalism and swift reactions, and the airport authorities in Mumbai for their invaluable support. "Our priority remains to look after our customers and get them to their destination safely and as soon as possible," the statement said. – Agencies
