Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) Jeddah center honored visiting Indian political leader Mohammed Khaleeq-ur-Rahman at its headquarters recently. Rahman, who is on a month-long tour to the Kingdom, is here to meet social organizations, especially from the southern Indian state Andhra Pradesh, in different cities. Rahman emphasized the need to build KTT as a knowledge-based institutional empire to serve the community at large. “Frankly speaking KTT is not new to me. I have been associated with this forum for long, and I know its activities which is why it is very close to my heart. I consider KTT as the best forum to impart quality education among the deprived section of the society,” he said. Being a member of A.P. Waqf Board Committee, Rahman assured all-out support for KTT's noble missions, such as alleviation of poverty through imparting cost-free educational endeavors. Rahman said: “I salute the vision of the people who had started this social outfit some two decades back, and I appreciate the work which is being carried on by the present team to enhance to different levels.” While speaking about various aspects of Indian political scenarios, he said: “India is divided into two segments: rural and the other is urban. Much of the population resides in the rural area, so the real development has to be done at this remote segment to make India stronger.” According to him all Muslim parliamentarians should coordinate with each other to raise minority issues at the top legislative body collectively. For this, efforts are underway to create a Secretariat for all Muslim parliamentarians at Delhi, to chalk-out a common strategy to resolve the minorities' issues amicably. He said that community leaders are quite different from political leaders; the former is more associated with the pulse of the society, whereas the latter are just answerable to the party high-command. “So for this reason I don't believe in narrow-minded party-politics, all should come together for a common cause and break the impasse of political boundaries and compulsions,” Rahman said. While spelling out the activities of the KTT, the President Aijaz Ahmed Khan thanked Rahman for his support toward educational causes. Khan said: “I know Rahman personally for a long, his ambition is to serve the community from the bottom of his heart. In the past he declined many important posts offered to him, so his earnestness counts the most.” Commenting upon the action-plan, the president said: “KTT always remained at the forefront for the welfare of the community irrespective of any prejudice, and the school runs under its patronage in India, and the computer and career guidance center of Jeddah are just a small step toward our commitment to elevate the standards of education among the deprived section of our society.” The Patron and the Overseas Trustee, Shameem Kausar , who is also the founder-member of KTT, appealed to the visiting dignitary to do his best in his capacity to make available a reasonable size of land in the city-center to build an independent educational institution. “It is the dream of mine as well as the forum's president Khan.” Rahman pledged that he would ensure the best of everything to be accomplished on a priority basis. Earlier a PowerPoint slideshow was presented by the forum's Youth-Wing member Azmat Ali Emran illustrating various ongoing projects of KTT in India and here. The general-secretary of the forum, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, conveyed the vote-of-thanks, and presented a memento to the dignitary on behalf of the managing committee of KTT Jeddah.
