JEDDAH — The Jeddah-based Noor Educational Society arranged a function to congratulate Aijaz Ahmed Khan on his election as president of the United Andhra Pradesh Forum on Wednesday. The program started with a recitation of the Holy Qur'an followed by a welcome address by the society's president Zaheeruddin Qadri. Qadri said he considered Khan the best person to run the United Andhra Pradesh Forum and hoped he would carry out his responsibilities successfully. He described Qadri as a talented, dedicated and qualified person. Society member Mohammad Abbas Khan in his speech recounted the society's prominent activities in Hyderabad such as its campaign against the dowry system. Aleem Khan Falaki, president for social reform, congratulated Khan on his new position and said the Forum was the best platform to perform many social and welfare activities. Dr. Syed Ali Mahmood, president of Bazme-Ittehad, congratulated Khan on his new position and said: “Aijaz Khan is not new in the community. He has served the community for a long time.” Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, president of the Twin Cities Organization, also congratulated him and said: "I hope the United Andhra Pradesh Forum will perform better under the guidance of Mr. Khan.” Hasan Bayazid, former forum president, also addressed the audience and pledged all support and help to Khan for his welfare services to community. He said Khan was the right person for the job. Khan said he aimed to do a lot of work for the community. He said he would try to provide basic facilities to non-resident Indians with the help of the Indian government. Community group heads and prominent members of the society attended the function.
