JEDDAH – A five-year-old girl died and her elder brother suffered burns in a fire that swept through a house in Al-Wazeeriya district of south Jeddah Saturday. After the fire broke out, Ali Al-Zahrani, a Saudi neighbor, broke open the door and rescued the boy, who was then taken to a nearby hospital in a Civil Defense ambulance. The Civil Defense rescuers found the charred body of the girl lying in a room. It was revealed that the children were left alone at the house and their parents had locked them inside. Investigations are on to find out the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, two female teachers were treated for smoke inhalation during a fire at an elementary school for girls in east Jeddah. The Civil Defense evacuated 358 students, teachers and mothers, after the fire started in a room in the first floor of the three-story school building.
