Ahmad Abdullah Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Police arrested late Saturday a man who allegedly murdered a woman and threw her corpse in a street in the Samer neighborhood of Jeddah a month ago. The suspect turned out to be a former teacher who was demoted to an administrative position by the Jeddah Education Department for misconduct. The victim, a 28-year-old Saudi woman, had been missing for a month. She was a student at a nursing school and lived in the institute's dormitory.
Her family, when filing the missing report, accused the teacher of abducting her. She sustained several contusions all over her body and was hit hard with a steel tool on the head, according to Jeddah police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq. The spokesman refuted reports circulated through social networking websites which claimed a prince had kidnapped and killed the woman, and then disposed of her body. Prince Khalid Bin Saad said on his Twitter account that he did not have anything to do with the woman found dead on the street. He stressed that he will use all legal channels to sue those who spread this rumor. Al-Bouq said the arrest had nothing to do with the reports filed last Thursday by witnesses who said they saw two young men riding a large SUV harassing women at Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul-aziz (Tahliah) Street. “Police officers were dispatched to the scene to handle the situation but the young men sped off. They were arrested later. They were identified as Saudi nationals and were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution,” the spokesman said. He stressed that misinformation and lies should not be spread on social networking sites and that some people deliberately spread such false information to compromise the security situation.
