JEDDAH: Police are looking for a man in his 30s who impersonated a security officer and robbed a Pakistani man in Jeddah's Al-Safa District; the suspect's accomplice has been arrested. The two suspects got out of their vehicle, stopped the man at a deserted corner on a subsidiary street, told him they were security men and took his mobile phone and money. They told the victim to leave the area immediately or he would be harmed, according to a report. The statement added that the victim went to the Al-Safa police station and authorities opened an investigation. A number of security men were deployed in the vicinity of the crime scene and a few hours later, a suspect was spotted walking in the district. His description matched information provided by the victim and he was arrested. Police said that they brought the suspect and victim face to face for identification and the suspect initially denied the allegations, but he eventually confessed and said he practiced pickpocketing and theft. He also admitted that he had an accomplice. First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, acting spokesman of Jeddah Police, confirmed that security agencies are looking for the suspect and said he would be apprehended soon because police have evidence that will expedite his arrest.
