Ibrahim Alawi Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Police have detained seven Chadian men in connection with the murder of a warehouse guard in the city's southern Khumrah district, police said on Wednesday. Police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said three of the suspects confessed to killing the guard who attempted to stop the men from stealing scrap steel at the warehouse, while the other four were charged with obstructing justice. According to the spokesman, police first arrested three suspects who allegedly murdered the victim, before arresting the other four. The age of the oldest suspect is 24. Al-Bouq said the three men beat the victim to death while the others, who were not directly involved in the killing, were observing the location. The investigations revealed the murderers wanted to subdue the guard using sedatives to steal the scrap steel, but when they had no effect on the victim, they tied him up and started beating him until he died. They took the body to a nearby sandy area where they buried him. Al-Bouq urged shop owners in the area to use surveillance cameras and automated doors. He also advised them to use specialist security companies.
