Pip R. Planas JEDDAH — Team captain Jowet Carreon and Evelyn Garcia led JTC Keglers with Bowler of the Week honor winning performances and with the help of Sid Sagun, Ariel Pasiola, Albert Vespiras and Ver Jasa, they emerged as the Team of the Week by compiling 3,661 at the end of session four of the Friday Morning Bowling League Invitational Meet at Bowling City here recently. Determined to avoid endgame collapse, which hobbled him for three weeks, Carreon scorched the lanes 11 and 12 with his handicapped series of 695 from scratch of 659. He hit the track consistently and bested the session with brilliant scratch games of 216, 238 and 205 to clinch the most coveted Male Bowler of the Week honor. Inspired by her team manager's prolific leadership, Garcia stirred up to support Carreon with ladies' best at 669 from scratch of 588. Humbly starting with 178, Garcia accelerated her scratch shares with 202 and 208 for the most wanted Female Bowler of the Week accolade. Boosted by the exceptional performances of their leaders, Sagun, Pasiola, Vespiras and Jasa contributed 598, 577, 568 and 558. Sagun came up with 225 scratch. JTC Keglers posted scratch series of 3,196. Their handicapped games were recorded at 1,181, 1,215 and 1,265 for their total session points of 37.
Second best achiever of the week was the title campaigner Pin Rockers with Kaleem Salim, Romy Bunagan, Archie Santos and skipper Rudy Valenzuela squarely pillaring with 662, 633, 602 and 611, respectively. Such sterling performances were well-cushioned by Carling Constantino and Nurissa Ramos who solidified Pin Rockers' 34-point harvest with their shares of 522 and 519. Pin Rockers posted scratch series of 3,276. Their handicapped total was 3,549 on sets of 1,215, 1,165 and 1,169. Salim produced best scratch series of 650 from games of 226, 212 and 212. Less heralded Rod Lofamia turned out to be the most applauded kegler when he scored 274 from scratch of 244 to win the Jackpot cash prize which had been aimed by all male bowlers for the past three weeks. Lofamia had his goal on focus when a strike on the first ball of 10th frame was all he needed which happened to solely win the jackpot when no one scored 271. Lofamia led BCT Mongoose with 646 to the delight of skipper Emil Payongayong.
