Micah's Pride, Hassan Hijazi shine
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 02 - 2012

Micah's Pride and Dr. Hassan Hijazi team squarely battled their opponents to come on top, thanks to Bonnie Garcia and Puri Parena for helping dismantle their opponents in the 15th and 16th week action of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League 11th conference at the Bowling City here.
With Bowler of the Week winner Bonnie Garcia, who clinched the honor with a superlative 629 series and Oca Bernabe, who backed up with 607, Micah's Pride scored perfect 20 points against the undermanned Classmates team at a final settlement of 3,534-3,119. Fast rolling Garcia led Micah's Pride with games of 242, 195 and 192, while sturdy Bernabe covered his insipid opener with 225 and 208. Such twin show enthused support squad to be firmed and have Micah's Pride continuously lead the tournament. TC Ruel Santoc, Ronnie de Castro, Arnold Banayat and Co-TC Ester Santoc combined for 2,298 share to totally eclipse rivals.
Sharing limelight with Garcia was Aileen Miralbuna who led tournament second-running Pin Slashers in their 14-6 win over BCT Ball Care. Miralbuna toppled 606 on Roger Daquioag's captained Pin Slashers' 3,404-3,341 settlement with Emil Payongayong's skippered BCT.
Dr. Hassan Hijazi team clinched third spot as skipper Carlos Bustinera succeeded in his three Class C and two lady bowlers lineup augmented by class A Cesar Monares.
Such grouping overpowered higher set of Pin Rocker bowlers headed by Team chief Rudy Valenzuela. The match was actually 4-4 after two sets with an exciting 1-pin advantage at 2,215-2,214 for DHHT into the third game.
But with hi-tech and fully equipped bowler Monares scorched lanes 13 and 14 with 254 scratch. Solid help was delivered by Jimmy Mandingiado, Robert de Guzman, Jowet Carreon, Puri Parena and Co-captain Fedelyn Bustinera as Dr. Hassan Hijazi team broke away from tight fortification of Pin Rockers on 1,269-1,175 endgame compelling the latter to sign a 16-4 (3,484-3,389) final tallies. Best defenders of Pin Rockers were Valenzuela (629) and Romy Bunagan (610), while DHHT compiled well distributed individual scores.
Bowlers of the Week honorees this session are Danny Manriza and Ester Santoc. Manriza skippered Classmates with 639 with his games of 205 and a couple of 217 that mainly caused their 11-9 victory over Star Frames. Ester Santoc totaled 660 on games of 217, 257 and 186 in leading Micah's Pride for another swept task over New Alignment.
Jun de Dios and Melvin Lising tried defending New Alignment with 593 and 587. Ruel Santoc with 584 was the main backer of sister Ester.
