JEDDAH — Jeddah police arrested five thieves who stole SR300,000 from the accountant of a large company. They were monitoring their target for a few days and robbed him in plain daylight as he was leaving work. They fled in a car that they had hidden in a nearby location. The police did not have any evidence or witnesses other than the accountant's testimony. A special team was formed that reviewed all similar robberies while field teams monitored suspect locations. A Yemeni national whose description matched the one given by the accountant was spotted. He was caught with a large amount of money. He denied any ties to the robbery, but information gathered by police proved otherwise. Two of the offenders tried to flee Jeddah but were apprehended. The whole gang was eventually arrested. Spokesman for Jeddah police First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said investigations are underway regarding this and other similar robberies.
