Saudi Gazette report QUNFUDAH — Skulls and bones of remains buried at seven cemeteries in south Qunfudah have been uncovered due to natural erosion. Some of these cemeteries date back 300 years and were mentioned in researchers' books. Residents claim that they have multiple times asked local municipalities to care for these cemeteries, but to no avail. Skulls and bones can be clearly seen after they were uncovered due to winds and other erosion factors and they have attracted stray animals. A budget of SR2 million was reportedly approved three years ago to fence cemeteries and work on 13 new cemeteries was completed, covering an area of 7,600 square meters. Another SR2 million was approved a year later for fencing cemeteries and work on six new cemeteries was completed. The head of Hali municipality, Ali Al-Qarni, said the local authority reviews all requests submitted by citizens. He said the municipality has not received any complaints from residents but a committee was formed to review the situation.
