Kingdom elected member of SMC, MAC at the SMIIC

Saudi Arabia was unanimously elected Monday as member of the Standardization Management Council (SMC) for the 2022-2024 term and for the Management of the Accreditation Council (MAC) for 2022-2024 term by affiliates of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) at elections held here as part of the 22nd meeting of the Institute's Board of Directors.
Saudi Arabia will continue its active participation in the activities of the institute's specialized councils till 2024, in addition to its presidency of the Board of Directors, which lasts until the end of this year.
SMIIC aims to activate cooperation and joint Islamic action in standardization activities to enhance economic and industrial growth and maximize the benefit of intra-trade among member states.
The institute is also working on developing an integrative framework that consolidates cooperation and integration to achieve the interests of member states, in addition to developing the infrastructure system for standardization and quality activities in Islamic countries, by activating the role of the specialized technical work committees in the institute.
King Salman Convention Center in Madinah hosted the 22nd session of the Board of Directors of SMIIC, as part of the Kingdom's hosting of the institute's meetings from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2021, with the participation of delegations from Islamic countries, regional and international organizations.

The Saudi Halal Center, an initiative of the National Transformation Program of the Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), took part in an exhibition organized on the sidelines of SMIIC meetings, here.
The center's participation in the exhibition included an introduction to the national halal system, the role of the Saudi Halal Center, its vision and mission, and the services it provides, such as the issuance of halal certificates.
The exhibition, in which 145 representatives from 45 Islamic countries, as well as 14 regional and international organizations, represents an opportunity to boost cooperation and partnerships, and introduce the center's objectives and plans to project the Kingdom as a leader and reliable reference for halal food and products at the local, regional and global levels. — SPA
