RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Civil Defense said that it had received an alert from the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection about the possibility for torrential downpours and flash floods in some parts of the Kingdom from Friday until Monday, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. There are strong chances of moderate to heavy rains and brisk winds in regions such as Makkah, Madinah, Al-Baha, and Hail. Some parts of Makkah witnessed rain during the last few days. Moderate rains and active winds are expected to hit the regions of the Northern Border, Eastern Province, Asir, Jazan, Tabuk, Al-Qassim, and Al-Jouf over the coming days. The directorate called on everyone to stay away from places of flash flooding and water pools following torrential rain and to abide by the Civil Defense instructions announced through various media outlets to ensure their safety.
