KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait detected 753 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 62,625, the country's health ministry said in a statement carried Kuwait News Agency. Of the new cases, 482 are Kuwaiti citizens and 271 expatriates from different countries, the ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said during a daily press briefing. Most of the new cases were in contact with already infected people while the reason for the infection of others is still being investigated, Dr. Al-Sanad added. The spokesman also announced four more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 425. There are 129 patients currently receiving treatment in intensive care units, according to the spokesman. Dr. Al-Sanad pointed out that the ministry conducted 4,603 additional coronavirus tests over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of tests done so far in the country to 479,411. Earlier in the day, the ministry said that 688 more patients have recovered from the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries to 52,915.
