ABU DHABI — Kuwait on Thursday recorded 791 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 57,668, the health ministry said in a statement carried by Kuwaiti News Agency. The ministry also announced three more deaths from complications caused by the coronavirus infection, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 402. Of the new cases, there were 459 Kuwaiti citizens and the remaining 332 were expatriates from different countries, the health ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said. Most of the new cases were in touch with previously infected people while the source of infection for others was being investigated, Dr. Al-Sanad added. According to the spokesman, there were 142 patients receiving necessary medical treatment, in intensive care units. A total of 4,341 additional coronavirus tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of COVID-19 tests done in the country so far to 449,525. Kuwait's total virus tests have reached 449,525 so far after 4,341 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr. Al Sanad Dr. Al-Sanad pointed out. Earlier in the day, the health ministry said 648 more patients have recovered from the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 47,545.
