KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday recorded 833 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 52,840, Kuwait News Agency reported citing a statement from the Ministry of Health. Of the newly detected cases, there 536 Kuwaiti citizens and 297 expatriates, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said during a daily press briefing on coronavirus. Most of the new cases were in contact with previously infected people, while epidemiological investigations are underway to find out sources of infection for others, the spokesman added. The spokesman announced three more deaths, raising the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country so far to 382. Dr. Al-Sanad also said that there are 150 patients who are receiving treatment in intensive care units. According to the spokesman, Kuwait conducted 5,011 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests so far in the country to 22,885. Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that 578 more patients have recovered from the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait to 42,686.
