ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates reported 53 new cases of coronavirus and one more death, the state news agency WAM reported on Tuesday citing a statement from the Ministry of Health. With the 53 newly detected cases, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 665. However, six patients have succumbed to the deadly virus so far. The new death is of a 67-year-old of Asian expatriate who was already suffering from chronic illnesses, according to the ministry spokeswoman Farida Al-Hussani. According to the report, new cases are from different nationalities The new cases involve those who came into contact with the infected people as a result of non-adherence to preventive measures and social distancing as well as people who traveled recently, Al-Hussani added. The new cases are from different nationalities with 31 from India. Among others, there are four Emirati citizens, three British, two each from Nepal and Egypt and each from Algeria, France, Italy, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Switzerland, Turkey and the United States. All cases are stable and are being provided with necessary health care in the country's hospitals, according to the spokeswoman. Meanwhile, the ministry expressed sincere condolence to the family of the deceased and wished quick recovery of all the infected people. It also urged the community members to cooperate with the health authorities, adhere to instructions and follow the social distancing rule to ensure the health and safety of all.
