Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 02 - 2020

RIYADH —The Council of Ministers has reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for the efforts to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace here on Tuesday, highlighted the great and pioneering efforts of the Kingdom in supporting the Palestinian people and standing by their side in all international forums, including the Kingdom's presentation of the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. It also appreciated the efforts of the American administration to work out a comprehensive peace plan between the two sides.
Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah told Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the Cabinet affirmed that the Kingdom's support for efforts to advance negotiations confirms that the success of these efforts requires that their ultimate goal is to achieve a just and lasting solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Cabinet reviewed the unanimous decisions of the meetings of Arab League and OIC foreign ministers, wherein the two groups emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab and Islamic Ummah, and the need to adhere to the peace process as a strategic option for the conflict, based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Cabinet reviewed the Ouagadougou Declaration issued at the end of the 15th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Burkina Faso, citing affirmation of its adherence to the basic principles of the OIC, the continuation of positive and effective contributions to the development of the work of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, including establishing world peace and regional security, and rejection of all extremist ideas and terrorist acts that target many Islamic and non-Islamic countries.
At the outset of the session, King Salman briefed the Cabinet on his talks with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the content of his telephone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, citing coordination of efforts between the Kingdom and Russia in order to achieve the oil market stability to serve global economic growth.
The King also briefed the Cabinet on his telephone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, reemphasizing the Kingdom's steadfast stance with regard to the Palestinian cause, the rights of the Palestinian people, supporting their options and fulfilling their hopes.
Al-Shabanah said the Cabinet considered the Kingdom's financial support for a plan of action, activities and programs of the United Nations Office for the Alliance of Civilizations, which it had undertaken over the next three years, as an expression of the Kingdom's appreciation for the role being played by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and its efforts in spreading a culture of peace and tolerance and strengthening the role of multiple and preventive diplomacy, protection of religious sites, and an extension of the Kingdom's role in spreading love and peace and its call for coexistence, rejection of hatred and violence.
The Cabinet praised the King's patronage of the first edition of the Global Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, and the directives of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to adopt two initiatives to serve global cybersecurity, namely "protection of children in the cyber world" and "empowering women in cybersecurity", within the framework of the Kingdom's march of modernization and development in accordance with its Vision 2030, which aims to accomplish a vibrant society and a prosperous economy.
The Vision also visualizes a Saudi cyber space that achieves the highest standards in international security and reliability, realizing the magnitude of renewed global challenges while expanding the use of technology in all walks of life, and promoting international cooperation in this field.
