Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Criminal Court in Jeddah will soon issue its verdict in the case of terror attack Al-Wadeea southern border outlet in Sharourah governorate about six years ago. There are 12 accused in the case wherein four policemen were martyred and five of the attackers killed. The accused, known as members of the "Al-Wadeea Cell" have been charged with planning and executing the attack against the outlet during the holy month of Ramadan in the Hijra year 1435. The leader of the cell is accused of attacking one of the Kingdom's border outlet, exploding government establishments, killing security men, following a Takfiri (infidel) ideology and describing Saudi leaders to be unbelievers. The attorney general has demanded capital punishment for the cell leader according to Islamic Shariah for his "misdeeds which were contrary to the teachings of Islam." The attorney general has also called for executing the leader's deputy for the same charges. The court held a number of sessions to try the accused who allegedly initiated a terrorist organization in Yemen. According to court sources, the list of charges against the cell leader also included taking arms against the rulers, busting the outlet and the building of the general intelligence in the town of Sharourah and deliberately killing a number of security men. He is also accused of attacking the cars of the security patrols and the border guards in addition to stealing a car to escape. The leader, who has not been identified, is also charged with preparing more than 1,000 kg of explosives to use in the attack against the outlet and the government buildings.
