JEDDAH – Several prominent figures attended a colorful function at the Consulate premises here to mark the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of India's Constitution and the ideals and values enshrined in it. They included Consul General Noor Rahman Sheikh, eminent Saudi Yogacharini Padmashri Ms. Nouf Al Marwaai, as well as members of the Indian Diaspora, school children, teachers and the consulate staff. The celebrations started with reading of the preamble in Hindi and English by Consul General Sheikh and staff of the consulate. The consul general spoke about the importance of committing to the principles of justice, liberty and fraternity as enshrined in the Constitution and also giving due importance as responsible citizens to the fundamental duties. In her keynote address, Nouf Al Marwaai shared her experience of witnessing the handwritten constitution kept in the library of Indian Parliament. Several events such as online quiz competition, photography exhibition on makers of Indian Constitution, screening of films like Mooknayak and Spirit of Freedom, debate, essay and painting were organized in which students of various schools participated with great fervor and enthusiasm.
