Mazhar blasts 216 in Hyundai Afternoon

JEDDAH — Mazhar Abbasi hammered 216, while Pervez Baig hit a century as Nestle Milo, Contraco, UCC, Al-Saudi-XI, Elaf Advance and AMI Juffali won their respective matches in the Summer Afternoon tournament being sponsored by Hyundai Naghi and managed by the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA).
Al-Saudi-XI thrashed Pak Kashmir by 116 runs. Mazhar Abbasi was in fabulous touch and scored 216 off 82 balls. He helped Al-Saudi reach 264-3. Mazhar scored 128 off 51 balls with Imran (26). Pak Kashmir, in reply, could make only 148-8 as Usman made 22. Mazhar Abbasi took 2-15, Nadeem Saad 2-25.
In another match, GGI, batting first, posted 177-3 against Elaf Advance.
Pervaiz Baig smashed 13 fours and four sixes to remain unbeaten on 113. Tarique hit 23 and Asfar was 21 not out. Elaf Advance reached the target of 181-4. Ali top-scored with 47, Siddique added 42 and Ehtesham was 40 not out.
Nestle Milo piled up 183-7 with Zohaib making 64, Asim 57 and Azfar 21. Uzair scalped 3-28 and Rafeeque 2-43. AOT Youngsters responded with 145-9 to lose by 38 runs as Anas Ali top-scored with 31, while Zakir and Kashif added 20 each. Haroon Zahid took 3-16, Fahad Yakoob 3-50 and Imran 2-18.
In another match, AMI Juffali, after opting to bat first against Dopco Safa Al-Bawadi, racked up 193-3. Nadeem Uzbak scored 54, Imad Uzbak 37, Saboor Usmani 37 not out and Imran 32. AMI Juffali then bundled Dopco out for 99 to win by 94 runs. Zameer grabbed 3-11, Saboor Usmani 3-13 and Rafi Gujjar 2-14.
Contraco bowled Natcom out for 122 as wrecker-in-chief Kaleem took 3-16, Amjad 2-23 and Maqsood 2-26. Contraco then achieved the target of 123 off 89 balls with six wickets in hand. Kaleem hit an unbeaten innings of 72, while Shahzad made 17. Asif Khan took 3-8. Earlier, it was again Asif who top-scored with 29 for Natcom.
In another encounter, United batted first to make 146-9. Shahnawaz scored 79. Masco-XI replied with 98-8 to lose by 48 runs. Shahnawaz and Jibran both claimed three wickets each to complete the rout.
